‘Treatment for the film ‘Hunted’

Introduction of the Film

The opening sequence begins with the production company ‘Epic Pictures’ being bitten by fangs to suggest that vampires are involved in this film. We got this idea from the opening sequence of the horror film ‘Saw’. The establishing shot connotes the danger of the genre; the trees suggests a sense of war. Inspirations from other films have used forest settings for openig sequences to illustrate the gene. The first shot is of a female character being chased through a forest at a very fast pace. The chase is accompanied by tense music, screams, panting and the sound of feet running on sticks. The sound, mise en scene and camera shot helps subvert the female characters position of representation of females.
During the chase there is flashing scenes of a family being killed in their home. As each character is being killed in the flashing scene, the credits present each actors (characters) name in a blood font to contribute to the representation of thriller/horror. Also one scene will have dark lighting presenting pictures of a family and the slow effect creates an enigma that death is taking place. Once the killing scene is over and all the production team of the film has been established in the sequence, there is a longer scene of the chase in the forest. Whilst the three characters are running in the forest there are close ups on both characters. On the female character there’s a close up of her face and as she’s panting the audience notice she has fangs. The three male characters that are chasing the female character are shot in a three shot so the audience can see their weapons and their body shape to show their strength. The female character continues to pace quickly and gets to a hill where a busy road is below the hill. She then takes a large jump which shot a high angle and hides in a bush at the bottom of a hill. The shot of her hiding is a mid-shot and the 3 male chasers disappear and then the title of the film (‘Hunted’) cuts through the last shot of the female character looking panicked still hidden in the bush.

Description of the film

It’s a battle between vampires and hunters with a twist. The vampires are good and wish to cause no harm; however the hunters think otherwise. The hunters have been killing vampire’s families around the world for 8 years because they think they are a threat to the human species. The last vampire family in West London are the hunters’ main target. The hunters capture the last vampires but the eldest daughter escapes and survives. She then goes into hiding in South London and disguises herself. The hunters continue to grow a large number of hunters, she realises this when she meets a guy that tells her that hunters are recruiting for more people all around the country then she decides to do the same and forms an army of normal individuals after telling them her story about how the hunters murdered her family and she turns her army into vampires. Eventually the hunters find her again and they assume she’s alone but her new formed army of vampires appear and they have a large battle leaving all hunters dead. The aim of this film is to be a horror/thriller.
